Error 4: USB not charging/connecting to phone.

I've had my FRS for several months now and I've noticed a little kink in the USB connection to my iPhone. Sometimes upon changing songs I get the "USB Connection Error" message which is fine so long as I replug in the device, but more so recently I got the Error 4 message that seems to plague the Pioneer head units in Scions. Now I read up something on scionlife about replacing the unit but after restarting the car/unit and cycling through FM/CD and then finally USB again I managed to get a charge to my phone and viola it works again .

I am under warranty for at least another 70,000 miles but should I go ahead and head to the dealer or is this just something normal for all units? I'm used to my older cars so I tend to just bite the bullet with any technical issues.

Did you ever figure anything out? I got the 2014 HU & it keeps saying check manual for usb error. I've only had my car a week.
