255/40/17's on stock suspension?

Wondering if i can fit 255/40/17's in the rear of the car without any rubbing? Anyone try it? Also my rim is a 17x8.25 +35. Is a 255 too wide for a 8.25 rim width?

This would probably be better in the wheels/tyres forum.

235 would be a more appropriate tyre wifth for a 8.25" wide wheel. 245 is pushing it a bit. 255 would be not have much sidewall control, but at least would be comfy!

I'm running 255/35/18 and I am lowered on Eibach springs. No rubbing issues at all.

Why do you need 255 tires? It's unnecessary for stock power and heavy tires will just put more stress on the drivetrain.

Thank you! I didn't need a bigger tire set-up, it's just for comfort.

You'll want a 9" wheel for 255's.
