Rim / tire mod on the cheap?
So, I have no budget for this, so I may end up doing nothing, but here's the situation:
'03 WRX running 7 spoke '06 WRX 17" rims, silver, with 225/45 S-Drives '13 BRZ running stock. I'm actually happy with the way my wagon looks, though the ability to swap rims between them has peaked my interest. Options: Swap full sets. (Free) Swap only tires! ($100 in shop fees?) Buy new sticky tires for BRZ. ($700) Buy new rims for BRZ, use stock tires. ($900) Buy new rims for BRZ, use WRX S-Drives, put Primacys on WRX. ($1k) Plastidip stock BRZ rims. ($50) New sticky tires on BRZ, then plastidip rims ($750) Buy used set of WRX or Legacy rims w/ tires ($500) Plastidip if bored. Play around with photoshop, grab a beer, watch some TV, forget the whole thing. ($5) The '03 WRX might get replaced at some point next year - maybe with '15 WRX, or something else. I do like the idea of having 3 sets of rims so I can swap, plastidip, etc on a whim. (ie, always having a spare set) |
