FYI 0-40, and 0-30 available

This is just a fYi.

I'm standing in front of the oil rack at Canadian Tire, and notice that they sell castrol 0-30 edge-European formula as well as Mobil 0-40 for you hard core track guys looking for a place to get decent oil.

I think I will be switching to the 0-30 castrol formula for summer use and use 0-20 stock stuff for fall and sping.

I think you forgot a few "W" in there mate. It's written 0w-20

NOACK & HTHS are more important than overall viscosity for stability. A 5w-20 will do what you want better than a 0w-30

I have a ton of 0W-40 left over from my BMW that I was going to take back to the store, would it be a sin to use it in my BRZ when I change the oil at 1000 miles?

Unless you have a built engine, I would only use one or two quarts at a time with the remainder 0W-20 to make a robust 30 weight oil. Otherwise, just take it back for some 0W-20 or 5W-20 or keep it for a couple more years and mix it with 0W-16.

This is why I never hoard oil.
