KW V3: To flip or not to flip

I am interested in a set of KW V3's. I know some of you guys are swapping the springs front to rear. I was hoping KW owners could give me some input as to if and why (or why not) you switched your springs. For reference, this car will be a daily driver that will see track duty whenever time and money is available. Hopefully a few times per year. I read on the KW web page that their engineers worked very hard to determine the spring rates and they should not be changed (which I am not sure that I believe).

I think I'll PM you.

Anyone else have anything to say about flipping the springs?

Its a personal preference I think.. I have mine flipped...it just made sense to me.. that the *stronger, higher spring rate goes up front.. I actually have 550lb springs awaiting install ...then the higher KW's might go back on the rear.. got some testing to do.. otherwise.. it would appear to me that the higher Rear rates would cause the Rear to be loose.. havn't tested that theory but it just makes sense.. I am pretty neutral with the higher ones up front.. I am also running a bigger front Bar.. as well as camber plates up front.. Hope that helps.. LMK if you have any more questions..

Send a message via AIM to Racecomp Engineering
On our RCE T2 Clubsports (based on KW clubsports) we start with even rates front to rear. We can customize but for most people the even rates work well. There are a lot of variables to consider so feel free to call or PM us.

Thanks guys. I know there are many variables here. Tire size and sway bars being two big ones. I'm just trying to figure out where the best place to start is.

Anyone else? Is there anyone that ran them as they come and then flipped?

Also, I see there are some autoXer's here as well as some track guys. How will those different venues effect peoples input?

People called me crazy when I suggested running more spring in the front than the rear a few weeks ago. That being said, I'll be swapping the KW Clubsport springs front and rear if the ASTs don't come in first.

I have been flipped on mine since I got them.. back last June.... most of the folks I know are flipped.. Not sure why KW made the call to have the higher spring rate in the rear.. makes no sense..

Where were you when I need backup? It was all "but the motion ratio this, the motion ratio that" talk. I gave up.

If I would have seen it. I would have backed you up.... sorry man. I know that most of us using the Var 3's for autocrossing are flipped. and that includes some of the other national level builds..

I prefer a higher rear rate. No experience with this KW swap but talking in general and in a track setting not autoX
