hmmm....Carmax

Wasn't sure where I would put this, so I'm gonna put it here. I thought about it and looked into for about a month or two checking sources and what not. And I notice that Carmax gets new cars at least one or two of a new model. They have a no haggle model as well, kinda like SCION but they're alittle more plain, like they wont add anything to the cars to sell em.

So what I'm thinking is that Carmax might get one or two BRZ or FRS for sale in the future. Do you think this will be true? I mean they sell new cars as well, when the 370z came out they started selling one or two new based models, althought automatic it was less than what you would get at Nissan. Anyone have any experience with this? I've only sold my car to them which I thought was extremely fair. With Carmax their is a good chance to get a BRZ premium with out a mark up alittle lower than MSRP. They even have SCION release series for sale on their lots.

Thought? Discuss please.

For sure they won't sell you a wrecked car and whatever they sell has passed a highly rigorous inspection. I doubt the price will be much less than new because when I was looking at used SX4s that were 1-3 years old with 10k-30k miles, they were between $500 to $1500 less than a new one. F that I'd rather get a new car! You start seeing better value if the car is older with higher miles. And if a car is on their lot too long, they'll gradually drop its price (probably won't be the case with FR-S).

I was thinking more something along of their new car lot because. MSRP BRZ sound better then MARK up BRZ, Unless you got Giccin or a group buy I doubt many can get something that's highly sought for for any less. Your right about the FRS lol

That's why I'm on multiple dealer lists. Whoever is going to give me the car at MSRP (or closest to it) is going to get my business. Maybe that won't be much incentive for them, but it's worth a shot.

On a somewhat related note, how well does Carmax pay for used vehicles? Is it close to KBB value?

It's actually very fair, they paid alittle more for my Civic SI then KBB. But my car was very low milage and I take care of it. I have a good experience with Carmax.

Putchased my miata and the wife's mini from carmax. They do tend to have some new cars. But the shopping experience is always painless.

For my Civic, which was well taken care of and low mileage, they offered 60 percent of what they were going to sell it for. It was worth 9-10 (their own website) they offered 6! I don't like them. If you live in a population dense area car max will never offer the best deals on used cars. Deals will always be found from private sellers not a company with overhead.
