Question Paint abnormality!

I currently have my car in the body shop at Toyota getting my hood painted after finding a "soft spot" on the paint of the hood. Fortunately Toyota is covering the work under warranty, so I don't have to spend a dime. At first it just looked like the gook you get after splattering a bug but it wouldn't come off. it was almost as if the paint was rubber. The body shop manager, Toyota rep, and a third experienced body shop tech were stomped as to what was the deformity or the cause there of. It is currently being taken care of, I'm happy with the professionalism of the guys at Toyota handling the problem. A less significant problem with my 135i at BMW was turned away. Toyota FTW!

Did you take photos before you took it in?
I have a few spots that look like the paint was melted once. The size is about 1/2 of a dime. I didn't do anything about it because I doesn't bother me, but just curious that's what you had.

yeah that's a good description of what I have.. no unfortunately I didn't think to take the pics. I can ask the body shop manager for them tohugh. I noticed it months ago I just took my car in for its 7500 mls service and I just asked just to see what they would tell me and they offered to fix it so yeah. I wasn't expecting them to take it in so quick, that is really why I didn't bother to take pics.
