So I'm at the dealership now, noticed the other day that the rear spoiler was coming off on the edges. Jw if anyone else was having an issue like this..

Must not have been screwed in right.
Mine is fine, but I've noticed that since I got it installed, there's a weird sound when I open the trunk. Sounds like sand or something moving in there. Any ideas? It also opens a lot faster with the extra weight of the spoiler. It's not as well balanced. |

There are several holes drilled in the trunk lid to install the spoiler so it could be stray metals filings shifting around in cavities of the trunk frame as the trunk is raised and lowered.

Back in my day FRSs didn't have spoilers that you screwed on. You had to tape 'em.

The factory applied spoilers had screws, many aftermarket don't. My 5Axis is 'no bolt' and works like a dream. If it ever came loose though, I'd be pretty screwed. <---- Pun

Yeah the glue holding mine down was coming up on either side, got me worried , didn't know there were bolts also holding it down lol. The dealership said they may just order a new spoiler , seemed like they had no idea what was going on lol, took em an hour To figure out it was the glue coming loose

Makes sense, I'll see if I can get a vacuum or something in there to clean it out.

Wow, I never even thought about having issues with the spoiler. I haven't had any issues with mine or even any weird sounds, but I've only had my car for almost a month now. Thank you for the notice. I will keep a look out.

I've only had mine for 3 weeks. I got the spoiler installed at the dealer about a week after I got the car. They must not have fully cleaned up the metal shavings after they installed it.

I was referring to the rear spoiler recently released by Scion, it's listed with the optional accessories on the Scion site. I had one dealer installed two weeks ago. Any time you're drilling in steel tubes there's a good chance of metal shavings falling inside the tubes and not coming out. With the way the trunk parts are stamped, you might be able to blow them out with a compressor. I was more concerned that the holes were properly gasketed so water didn't get in and start to rust.

Good thing I sticked with the frs that already had the spoiler rather than wait for it to be installed on another frs :-p
