GReddy/AFE intake
does anyone who installed one know how to remove the OEM air scoop. The instructions were a little vague...

Now the fun part. While prying back the bumper, feel for 2 bolts bolted to the chassis/radiator support and unbolt them. Now you need to gently twist/pull/wrestle the snorkel out. One thing that could make this process easier is to remove the passenger sidemarker and pull the bumper off completely. That way you can see (instead of blindly guess) how to maneuver the snorkel out. Last edited by switchlanez; 05-02-2013 at 02:10 AM. |

It require you remove the bolts over the side marker to get into the driver side bumper to be able take the front bumper off.

Sure NP. To "Thank" I think you need a minimum number of posts. Might've been 10 or something. Just keep posting and you'll eventually see the function right next to the "Quote" and "Quick reply" buttons.

Tony my seller and tuner at FA20club.com told me to leave the snorkel there... That is what I'm going to do. Just leave it there and avoid all that mess to pry the bumper and may be broke something....

![]() the snorkel does fit , I have the greddy intake on my car and it looks just like that. As far as the air scoop you don't have to remove the bumper it just requires small hands .. Me and my friend had my stock intake , and the greddy intake installed in roughly 25 minutes and thats with me unplugging the battery and having the car idle for 5 minutes afterwards. |

Conclusion, leave the oem snorkel installed in place. It will help bring fresh air to the Greddy / Takeda intake kit...

the snorkel piece on the greddy box is closed , you would have to drill a hole out for the snorkel to be functional. It seems the added that piece so you wouldn't have to go through the hassle of deleting it.
And the battery is awkward to get out but nothing that can't be done with your standard 10mm, 12mm, or 14mm sockets lol |

We are not talking about the same things. You are refering to the sounds generator, the tube that goes from the intake box to the passenger side firewall to bring noise into the cabin for pleasure. With the Greddy / Takeda intake kit if you want to keep that functionnal, you have to drill a hole into the plastic connector... Myself I was refering to the front snorkel that is located into the front bumper. I want to keep the fresh air scoop in conjuction with my new takeda / Greddy intake kit and I'm also planning to drill a hole into the connector pipe to reuse the noise generator like oem.

I have my whole stock intake in my trunk lol but I don't recall seeing the fresh air scoop being removed just the air box and back. I wouldn't feel safe removing the front bumper due to my experiences with my last car, once the bumper is removed the clips just never hold the bumper flush ...

Because the instructions supplied with the intake tell to remove it. But you are the proof that it is not necessary to remove it if we dont want to. Personnaly I think it is better to keep it to give fresh air from the front of the car to the intake.
