Ford raptor

Anybody here own one or have experiance with em? Mainly interested in any common problems they might have. I'm aware of the frame bending if you drive like an asshat.

I've owned one since 2010.

Squeeky noise comes from the tailgate every now n then... They lube it and the sound goes away for awhile then returns. It's pretty annoying if you have the back window open and no music on.. but otherwise not so bad. And easy to resolve for at least a little while.

Had a terrible grinding issue with the transmission for a while.. It was resolved with an update.

Aside from being very gas hungry it's been nearly problem free aside from dealer specific problems.

If you get the bed extender, I strongly recommend you have liner put in the bed immediately.

The factory bed extender wore through the paint in my bed and has started to corrode... Ford refuses to fix this under warranty so I'm on the hook for it.

Anyway, pretty happy with the quality overall. Second F-150 (Family also owns an '04 lariat... which has been nearly problem free as well).

One thing I'm not so fond of is the surface corrosion on the undercarriage. They claim it's normal, but it doesn't look healthy. Most guys have said they've had it since brand new.

Frame bending has nothing to do with Raptor problem's... Just a select group of Raptor owner's who were stupid. And of course people had to sensationalize it.

One thing to look out for.... Be careful driving through construction area's (throw cement up the side of your truck_ or gravel roads etc... And consider having some mud guards installed right away... The tires throw everything and the kitchen sink up the entire side of the truck. You will not be able to keep it clean.

If you're ADD about paint at all, you're goin to pull your hair out.

Otherwise.... Prepare to fall in love with the seats.... and the truck.. One hell of a comfortable ride... Fun beyond words off road.. And for a truck, especially considering it's size it moves/handles surprisingly well.

Anyway that's all I Can think of... so I'll stop rambling there.

This may be a little off topic, but just to vouch for F-150 reliability: My parents have owned an 01 lariat crew cab(5.4) since it was new. Its got 250,000 miles on it and all thats been replaced was a CV joint(i think) and the seal on the back window leaked a little.

I've always liked the raptor just for its sense of craziness, you look at it and it makes you feel like a kid. If it were me, and i were going to spend ~40k on a pickup, i think i'd go for a cummins ram, but the raptor would be a close second.

1. Drinks plenty of gas (although not as much as GM's counterparts).
2. Very comfortable highway cruiser.
3. Cumbersome to drive and park in most major cities.
4. Absolutely excellent off the road.
5. Beyond reliable.

All in all, one of the best pickup trucks money can buy today. Toyota's Tundra Rock Warrior comes in a close second.
