MPG

Today while taking a long 5 hour drive I had some thoughts. As I watched my fuel gauge slowly go down throughout the trip I got to do some thinking. All the time on advertisements the miles per gallon of the car is always the main point they try to get across, however my slow brain has realized that the higher the MPG of the car, usually the tinier the gas tank becomes. So I had an idea to find the car that goes the furthest while costing the least. It's a Price (to fill up the tank) to Range ratio. I haven't done any calculations to see what the optimum percentage or ratio would be yet. Tell me what you think...

Its tinier because it takes less power to move less weight. Gas weighs about 6lbs per gallon, so if you've got a 20 gallon tank, you're hauling around an extra 41 lbs just in gas compared to a standard 13.2 gallon tank.

Too many other factors to consider for MPG (gear, speed, total vehicle weight, driving style, drivetrain, engine load, etc).

The higher the mpg, the lower the cost per mile, whatever the tank size.
