Crutchfield tech says to get this boston acoustics but I purchased a rockford fosgate mono amp for mine. He also suggested this but it would have a little bit too much power.

Check out the Rockford Fosgate P200-2.
With that load it'll run cool, put out exactly that much power and have very low distortion, and it comes with a great EQ built into the amp. I look for all my equipment on sonic electronix, and usually find the best price online there. |

I have no personal experience with this sub but it's popped up in the DIYMA hot deals section a couple times. May be a good alternative if you wanna save a few bucks and can build your own box. Prefab MDF boxes are like $30 too if you don't want to build your own.

Not to shamelessly plug what I have, but I've got a really nice older Sony Mobile ES (Their last line of REALLY quality products) XM7527 that will put out ~360 bridged mono. I'd let it go to a fellow 86 owner for $100+shipping.
![]() It almost seems wrong to run a sub off of such a nice amp. The thing is seriously quality. Pics here: http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/...es-xm7527.html Nathan |

Do you ever plan to do components up front? You could get a nice 4 channel and bridge 2 channels to the sub and have 2 left for a comp set for your budget. If so let me know and i'll recommend some.

Probably not, I spent a ton of money on a sound system on my tacoma before I bought the FRS. While i love having everything set up from the Head unit, new speakers, subs etc etc, I don't want to spend all that much money into sound since I really don't have any body to impress anymore. I used to drive around buddies, go on trips with my truck so a complete sound system was necessary. I'm pretty satisfied with the stock set up HU and speakers, but the bass is just HORRIBLE. I'm looking for a little boom, enough to rattle the windows a bit, but not wake the neighbors like an 18 year old.

I like the new PPI Phantom series honestly. For the price you can't really do much better. Theres been a couple threads on DIYMA where they gutted one and it's the same amp board as you'd find in a Hertz amp. They were on my short list before I decided to go Class A/B.
Another recommendation for Sonic Electronix. |
