Drove the wife's car to work today...

It's snowing up here and I only have a few hundred on the ODO, so I figured I would take the wife's Altima to work this morning rather than deal with the stress of driving a brand new car with RWD in unsavory conditions.

Now, I've driven a box truck for work, and my Grandmother's Caravan every now and again, but this is the first time I've driven an AT, non-sports oriented car in ages. Terrible! I've pushed shopping carts that handle better.

There's a circle I take in the BRZ at like 55-60, I took it today in the Altima at like 22. I thought I was gonna die! I would have felt safer driving a camel.

Your missing out bro, bad idea not taking out the BRZ. Tons of fun in the snow with proper tires...

That's the problem. I didn't wanna buy snow tires for one month and I didn't wanna roll in the Priusy ones.

I had the same experience recently, in a rented Kia Soul. It was horrifying. (And awfully ironic, with a name like Soul....)

Do you plan to keep the BRZ for a while? It will probably snow next year and you can use them again.

That was kinda the reason for making this thread. I was curious if this overall feeling of uneasiness and the peceived loose handling was just in my head, or is this how the average "sedan" actually functions? I'm sure it's a little bit of both.

I wonder, what would someone who's driven an econo-box, grocery getter for the past 20 years experience after getting into something with a sport tuned suspension?

Just didn't want to spend the cash this year. After purchasing two new cars, insurance, converting licences over to NY, and everything else, I wasn't looking at dropping $1K into more tires/wheels. I'll probably just pick up a set of steelies for next winter.

That Altima probably handles a order of magnitude better than most of the garbage that people drive around every day (pickups, suvs, cuvs and minivans).

Makes you appreciate the handling of the twins even with their OEM eco tires.

hahaha... same boat as you. Took out the corolla today instead of the FRS cuase of the snow. I have about 50 miles of driving on way, and 99% of that is highway. Was not gonna risk getting into any accidents with a new RWD car.

I'm glad I didn't too 'cause I saw like 5 accidents and a few others in ditches...

Coming home the roads were fine, but I felt like I didn't know how to drive any more. I guess our cars handling kinda spoils us

I have a rental Hyundai Sonata until my baby gets fixed from getting rear ended. I've had this shit for 7 days and I'm about to drive it off a bridge.
