Doubt it. I heard they can't do that until 2015 because of a contract with Toypta or some crap.

I've seen so many rumors from people saying that it will have this or will have that. Bottom line is no one in the media knows, so until Subaru confirms it, I don't believe it.

"STI is working on finalizing creation of the special version of BRZ, which would be unveiled in "some time" (secret). Turbocharger is NOT in the concept of this greatly balanced FR sports car, so we would concentrate our developments on suspension, handling, performance improvements and sports styling. The turbocharged version of BRZ will remain only in GT300 Championship."

-Hiroyuki Karamatsu, President of Subaru Tecnica International Inc. (STI)

Even if an STi version is introduced, there's no guarantee that Subaru will give it to they US market immediately.

If brz becomes a separate from toyota, it would be easier and cheaper for subaru to build brz' with wrx motor as they do in all other models

I highly doubt they'd have the legal right to do that. If I were to ever leave my employer, I'd still be under a non-disclosure agreement to not discuss internal ideas long after I've left my former employer. Seeing as Toyota is the one funding it, they likely own intellectual property in the 86/BRZ project.

The subaru dealers at the sydney motor show in oct 2012 promised that sti accessories would be available here soon and they were proudly showing them on a brz.
Well , now mar 2013 and still not here.

STI may not turbo charge a production car, but they may make have a dealer installed option or something of that sort?

as an aside, I have a hunch that the new 2015 or whatever WRX motor will fit in this car without too much massaging (aside from some pipe rerouting)

time will tell

the brz's engine was redesigned from the old wrx engine to fit in the car so I dont know where this new engine/old one is coming from?

FA20 has very little in common with the EJ255. It's pretty much an all new motor. I'm not sure how much the FA20 and the FA20DIT will have in common. If I were to guess, I'd say they would be very different. Pistons, rods, valves, cams, fuel system...all different at minimum.

i doubt there will be a non warranty voiding option from the factory because of how vulnerable the turbo would be due to its positioning. that being said, i would welcome it.
