Unhappy Unpainted spot on wing

Hi all- I took my 1-month old WRB Limited BRZ to the detailers to get it Opti-Guarded and he found an unpainted spot (primer showing) on the left edge of the wing. It's not very visible unless you look for it. Should I try to get the dealer to fix it or should I just leave it? I don't know how I can prove it came from them. It looks like the error came from the factory, doesn't look at all like a scratch.

I will put a pic up soon.

It has a warranty. Have them repaint it. If they do a good job, fine. If not, have them replace it with a new one from the factory.

Sure its not a burn through from polishing? If its on an edge it could be from improper polishing.

I would have guessed from a polisher if I saw that. It's easy to do too, polishing the rear quarter without raising the trunk - I know I've hit that spot while doing mine but thankfully I use a PC7424XP so not a huge risk.

How does the underside of the spoiler look?

Is it smooth to the touch? Meaning is the paint around it higher? If not probably a burn.

Hmm whether it is a factory blemish or not (by the looks I'm inclined to think paint was originally there and got scraped off after the fact), I would just apply touch up. Repainting could result in other defects (dust flakes, craters) and a non-factory consistency/finish. Plus you have to remove the adhesive then reapply, unbolt/rebolt with potential to overtorque, strip threads, scratch more paint (unlikely but the chance is there). Not to mention the time and effort for the whole process. Plus it's not metal so it's not like it runs a higher risk of rusting. I'd rather keep the defect isolated to that nondescript spot and mask with touch up. I wouldn't let imperfections in that high air flow area bother you. I already have knicks on my trunk in front of the spoiler. If you repaint it may get random knicks anyway.

Yeah, It does look like it got scraped off. I guess the BRZ paint is softer than I thought. It's going to be hard to prove who did it, so I might just get it touched-up. Thanks. Where can I get touch-up paint? Should I just let a pro do it?

Best quality touch up should be from a Subaru parts department but there are cheaper alternatives out there. You can DIY by cleaning thoroughly to prep (alcohol helps ensure it's free of grease) then apply first coat. After 15 or so minutes apply another coat. Do not apply two coats back to back without letting first coat dry because that can ruin consistency. This is from my memory but instructions should be on the bottle or do a Google search to see how pros would do it. Or just let a pro do it lol

Do you guys think it would look better with a little bit of DrColorChip? I mean, that section is barely noticeable and I just want it filled to prevent more damage to the area. Or is the OEM subiepaint a better idea?
