Acceleration sound delay from 1st to 2nd

I've been driving my car around and noticed a whirling sound when going from 1st to 2nd and sometimes 3rd. The sound is like the Accelaration is slowly dying down when I push in the clutch. It's like when I let the acceleration/gas pedal go and switch to pushing in the clutch right away, I feel that the acceleration is still going. The way so I don't get this sound is by letting go of the gas for more than a second and then push in the clutch to change gears. Does anyone have this problem? Is it normal during break in? Thanks!
