Would it be tacky if...
I'm really fond of the whole idea of this being a successor to the AE86, a car I loved. I wish I could buy the Toyota 86 here in the U.S, but i'm limited to the Scion or the Subaru. I just seem to like the styling and persona of the whole Subaru brand more than Scion anything. So I will probably end up buying a BRZ over an FR-S. Do you feel it would be tacky if I bought those gill plates that say "86" on the FR-S, separately and put them on the BRZ it will look tacky or ricy?

I think it would be fine. But, everyone is probably going to do that.

I think it adds to the nostalgia of the car's background/heritage

The engine is 86 X 86...so it would work...Subaru could have put the 86 badges on the car if they wanted too..

Its a heritage symbol. I'd do it! I plan on taking the FR-S fender emblems and putting it on the BRZ. Debadge the Subaru emblems on the front and bank and import the "86" steering wheel if possible.

I'm really torn on this myself...
On the one hand, it brings out some of the Toyota roots in the car while also removing the "how many people can we pretend we're going to trick into thinking this is an Aston Martin" plates. On the other hand, my Evoque has similar styling cues in the fender-to-front-door area so I'm tempted to keep them, in the hopes that they'll grow on me... |

I guess I'm alone here. Since the 86 emblem is a Toyota-specific design, I think it would look as odd as putting Toyota emblems on a BRZ.
