I have a question i would like some opinions on as i am torn as to pull the trigger. Keep in mind i have heavily modified older used cars in the past but am hesitant to do the same with a brand new car.
Say you have the money to play with and you want to modify the exterior of your car with a widebody kit (Varis, Greddy etc..) or turbo/supercharger kit but you are worried about the long term effects of such an install. (unable to remove, cost of returning to stock, etc) In Terms of if you were to decide to sell the car in a few years and are concerned about value. What logic/justification do you use to modify your car? (if it isnt for business purposes) |

^This. Selling in the future & worrying about sell value, don't mod crazy. Do light tuned that easily bring it back to stock

Forced induction is rather easy to remove and have the car back to stock so for that I wouldn't consider it extreme.
Putting a rocket bunny kit on your car and having to cut your rear fenders out.. now that is extreme and will completely kill your resale value. |

The problem with heavily modifying car is that you can ruin it, not only the handling and reliability which is important but the most important part, the character of the car.
While engine swaps seem like a great idea, they don't work as well as everyone thinks. I've driven a few car with engine swaps (Never driven a 2JZ tbh, mostly older V8's and such) and most were just meh, some were great and a few bad. Unless you have a great budget and the knowledge, the extensive modifications you can do to a car sometimes aren't really worth it. I think only cars that should be modified heavily are projects car, cars in need of a restoration, maybe a car with lots of problems that needs suspension, bars, new internal engine parts or lots of miles. To me, taking a care that was once good or a POS car and turning into a great car is a lot better then turning a good car in a great car. Hard to understand, but i don't see eye to eye with anyone on this forum anyways. ![]() But of course, do whatever you want. Just no rotary to V8 conversions, it hurts. |
