Will GT86 Limited Parts come as FR-S Options?
I do not own one of the twins, but hope to buy one in the next year or two. I, like many of the people on this forum, am torn between the BRZ and the FR-S. I like the FR-S exterior styling, but I like the BRZ limited's nice interior options. Like many have said, a top trim model GT86 would be ideal. Unfortunately I am pretty confident that Toyota will never do that in the U.S. So rather than buy an FR-S and try to add all of that stuff in (or buy a BRZ and try to change the exterior), I was thinking of just waiting to see what options Scion will offer in the future. (I really can't buy one now so I have to wait anyway)
That leads me to my question. Do you guys think that Scion will work to bring most/all of the nice options that are present in the GT86 to the FR-S? I know there will never be a "limited trim" because of the whole "monospec" thing with Scion, but I could see things like dual climate control, push button start, HID headlights, etc. coming as future options. Anyone know anything about this? PS I apologize if there is already a thread on this (I did actually search a bit). Please just shoot me the link and I will be on my way. |

Unlikely. We may see some of them in a future Release Series, though.

time will only tell.
however I would like to thing a few will, we've seen the FR-S with foglights in official photos, yet the foglights are not available as of now, a rear spoiler has just popped up as well. now has for HIDs, keyless entry, and dual climate control those once might be limited to Release series models. and not be available on standard models. this is the reason i'm waiting to purchase mine. i love both cars but have a strong lean towards the fr-s due to the many TRD models they've shown namely the 80'S throwback that was at this years TAS. if they day comes where the release series is announced and it doesn't have the at the very least HIDs then I may just have to jump on a standard FR-S or BRZ /2 cents

So when I'm on the Scion website and "build an fr-s', what foglights are they putting on with the option they give you if not the ones in the official photos?

I have heard it has been done before already. I thought I even saw a post on here about it. I can't find it now though. I found this pic of an FRS with a BRZ headlights. Either than or it is a BRZ who put the FR-S bumper and swapped the side "vents".

Why do you think it is unlikely? I would think it would be easy to add as an option since the parts have already been designed and manufactured. It would make sense to offer them as factory options IMO. I'm not saying you are wrong. I just wanted to hear why you thought that.

Scion isn't really big on those sort of options. Beyond dealer-installed parts like TRD performance upgrades, they don't offer a lot of factory or port-installed options; if they happen, they happen as part of the RS.
