Seibon Lip Kit Install
I was wondering if anyone has any specific tips or information on installing a full Seibon Lip Kit. I have the entire kit but not sure if I need to drill extra holes or just use the premade holes in the lips from Seibon. Does anyone also know if these holes maybe exist due to fitment of the stock car bolts? It would
Make sense that they fabricate these lips to not need additional drilling but wondering if this is needed specifically for Seibon. I'm not sure as I haven't been able to check yet. Otherwise I will need to get hardware for this. I just haven't heard much about the Seibon kit yet. Ps I can't check yet because I'm in LA and I left my car in SF and I'll be getting it back soon! Can't wait! So I'm trying to do some research now so if I need some hardware I can get what I need ahead of time. I will be installing it this weekend. I will try to document, maybe a DIY for this kit. |

Try calling Seibon's customer support. I'm sure they can give you an exact answer...they did, after all, engineer the piece to fit on the car, so they should know what must be done to install it properly

Thanks!
Yeah seibon did not have any formal instructions on the install of the lips. I'm sure I can figure it out either way, just trying to see if there was a "correct" or intended way. They did mention that with this kit I need to remove the front bumper to install the front lip, which I initially didn't want or think to do this but Owell I guess I'll do that, I guess this is required to drill the holes needed. I'll search more and I saw it before, but do you guys have a link to a DIY for front bumper removal? Also does anyone know of a good shop in the Bay Area that if in the event I screw up I can take it to them or even have them to ask questions? Preferably a shop that you guys in NorCal have already used for either of the twins. |

Here are some pics of the lip kit install:
stainless steel bolts, similar install to the HT Autos lip install with regards to removing underpanels. i did not remove the front bumper for this install. ![]() ![]() ![]() used some weather stripping for the rear spats. I got them from my dad, he had them leftover from a kit he had for his vw scirroco maybe 23 years ago! so i dont know where to purchase something like this, it has a notched that fit the edge of the molding perfectly, and this flap that extended down, which was perfect for 3M tape to help secure ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

That weatherstripping doesn't look very good. Why did you put that on there? The rest looks nice though.

yeah ill post more pics hopefully later today. But yeah i think Seibon had "guidelines" but everyone else who have been isntalling lip kits just drilled them on directly. I preferred to use a nut bolt and washer method for the lip so thats why i decided to go with the method that the HT Auto lip was installed. This made more sense and is straight forward now, but to be honest everything took a while for me to do. Time was consumed in just not being familiar with the nuances of the car (darn plastic plugs) and also not having all the right sized hardware, which i couldnt really prepare for. I kind of had to go as it came.
The lip kit is pretty sturdy, i have about 13 SS bolts in the front lip, and for the side skirts it was 2 rows along the side (so theres less flex if there were just one row) and that was about 12 self tapping screws total (6 locations along the way). And for the rears, i utilized the existing plastic plugs and added 2 SS nuts and bolts, one underneath and the other on the side wheel well. As for the rear spat weather stripping. I decided to go that route to not only decrease the amount of moisture that will get trapped in there (not like there would be much though, i know) i wanted to also protect my paint there. Since the spats came the edges seemed like they would just scratch it all up especially in the event i didnt secure it well enough or if i ever want to take them off in the future. I know up close it may not look nice to some, but i like them, and personally you cant tell when youre even just standing distance away. I do like this wet carbon look on the WRB compared to a dry carbon or polyeurethane look. The next thing was to either get the mustache and rear diffuser wrapped in carbon or gloss black. Not sure what i want to do. But i still dont dig the dry plastic look, and i cant keep purchasing more and more carbon parts hahahahah. If you guys have any questions for this particular kit, let me know. But other than that, I can say Seibon made good fitting kits. And from pictures of people installing their other replacement parts, they look like great fits as well. Let me know if you guys have any other questions...or critiques.

IMO I dont like the kit coming up the sides in some spots. It looks too aftermarket. That chrome bolt on the side of the front lip kills it. The kit does not flow with the lines of the car! You can tell it was bolt on ! If you like it god bless. You sealed the deal for me APR is the only way to go if you want a carbon fiber kit.

I'll add some touch up paint or black silicone to the bolt. I agree that it stands out.
