Subaru BRZ RA Racing Edition

People have been expecting a "special edition" BRZ. Well, here's one... except the US probably won't get it. Looks like Subaru's version of the TRD 86 MSB (Motor Sports Basic) race package. Available in Japan for 2,868,000 yen.

Bodywork equipment
  • 6 point roll cage (with sidebar)
  • 4 point seat belt anchor bolt and mounting (official FIA)
  • air-cooled engine oil cooler
  • brake ducts
  • brake dust covers
  • Engine under cover (Aluminum)
  • racing floor mat (1 only)
  • Front and rear tow hooks

Dedicated equipment
  • ■ Torsen LSD [limited-slip differential]
  • ■ Final gear Rogiyado
  • ■ Front Ventilated disc brakes (16-inch)
  • ■ Rear Ventilated disc brakes (15-inch)
  • ■ Remote control electric retractable door mirrors colored
  • ■ Manual air conditioning (with a clean filter)
  • ■ 2 speakers (Front)
  • ■ power socket DC12V/120W (2 pcs.)

Other info

16 in. Steel wheels & 205/55R16 tires (with center caps)
2 speakers (front 2)
▲ This vehicle, so we are bodywork that assume the race competition, please note that there might be a disadvantage compared to the standard vehicle maneuverability and ride quality, livability, the passengers, and quietness .
▲ roll cage for mounting, been subjected to processing such as cutting floor carpet, interior panels, etc.. In addition, by installing a roll cage, Sun visor is not mounted. In addition, because it becomes difficult to get on and off by installing a roll cage, please understand.
▲ roll cage for mounting, the function of the SRS side airbags + SRS curtain airbag will be limited.
▲ 4 point seat belt, front / rear transport hook is only for the competition, when the road is generally removed, please do not use.
■ tire puncture repair kit is installed in place of the spare tire.

I think they started with the RA spec. This thread is about the "RA Racing" spec.

Does anyone know if those center caps are an order-able item? I'd love to have some for my winter steel wheels.

Why does a race car have seatbelts, carpet, air conditioning, a stereo, and power folding mirrors? Is this kind of like a Porsche GT3 car?

America always gets hosed on the cool cars. Take the ford focus rs for example. An American car company that won't give america the cool shit.

has seatbelts because they probably cant sell it without them.. why would they provide harnesses when you would be choosing what harness you want.
power folding mirrors because japan... small tight places to park.
everything else is easy to remove.
you could ask why include seats or door panels if thats the way you are looking at it?

Great post @switchlanez but you forgot to mention Gazoo. This is their baby that was released at TAS 2013.

This car and the 86 will be part of a "one make" race series that Toyota, Subaru and Gazoo will be putting together this summer.

The only thing that I see you missed is that new to the normal RA (Race Altered) spec is the car will be available in any of the colors - SW, GB, RB, LR, SS, DG and CB.

It will just be a matter of time before Subaru and Toyota have the oil cooler and other parts info on their respective sites.
Here's another link to the 86 version - http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20633

Yap, thanks for the extra info. You first noticed the oil cooler for this spec in the TAS BRZ pictures thread...
