UBCSCC Auto X - Slush Series #5 (Feb 3)
Hey guys, UBC Sports Car Club is having an autocross event on the 3rd at BC Driving Center, in Pitt Meadows. Our cars are MADE for this kind of driving and I would highly recommend you come out and try it.
A couple thoughts and comments (for newcomers): -It is the most accessible motorsport practice you can partake in -It is very easy on the car -Great learning environment with like minded people, free instruction and a place for you to explore the limits of this fantastic vehicle -You do not need to be a student of UBC -You will become both a much better driver in performance aspect as well as on the street -Membership is cheap, cheap, cheap and so are entry fees -Pretty much my favorite thing in life to do Event link and sign up: http://forum.ubcscc.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5113 UBCSCC website: www.ubcscc.com I drive a whiteout FRS and we have a couple more FRS's that come out. I am the trackday coordinator for the club and run the high speed trackdays at mission so you are welcome to ask me any questions! -Ivan |

I will be there as well. Got a free entry from last time, so might as well.
And I agree with Ivan. Our cars were designed to be driven. Last UBC event was my first in the BRZ, and after that event I felt way more comfortable in the car. I have autoX'd every car that I have owned: the safest way to understand how it will handle. UBC is a very welcoming club. If you are having problems or want help, they will put a senior driver with you, and give you instruction after completing a run. You do not need anything to run, the club even has loaner helmets. Nothing will happen to your car (well, at last weekend event in Victoria I did get some coneage, but not something that a bit of rubbing compound won't fix). Jay VMSC Novice Director

Ugh, I most likely will not make it. As far as downshifting, 99% of the time you stand to only loose time by downshifting. Ofcourse on the auto with the paddles it might be more feasible but with an h-pattern its hard to do well! I recommend launch, shift and leave it there and focus on your line and looking ahead!
