2013 Toyota Rav4

My dealership got our first 2013 Rav4 in earlier this week and I made a video of some of the features and differences from the outgoing version. It's definitely an improvement in ride quality and is definitely quieter.

I'm not sure how I feel about the cladding though on the rockers and bumpers. I need to see a different color in person to get a better idea. The one in the video is Magnetic gray and the second one dropped off today is identical to the first one so the color difference is hard to tell. Toyota did this with the 2003 4Runners and within a few months, color keyed all of the fender flares on all models and not just Sports & Limiteds. I guess time will tell what they do with the new Rav4.

Wife's Rav4 Ltd lease is up in Dec. I could see that model in the running.

Nice review. To me, this RAV4 is the best looking. I guess people have different taste.

I personally like the look. The front looks like an MDX.

I don't get the retro thing either. We had a line on Saturday waiting to drive this thing and the feedback from customers was very positive. We sold the other one that came in that was identical to this one and also took deposits on two more that are inbound to us. You can really see/feel/hear the improvements when you drive (or ride in my case) in the 2012 and the 2013 back to back. I did it twice yesterday. Smoother & quieter ride and better acceleration on the 2013. Even though the engine is carried over from the 2012 model, the 6spd AT makes it feel more powerful.

Many of those switches/stalks are used in the old/new Suby models. I wonder how much of this is coincidence or if this is part of their relationship?

Thanks for the vid! I think the outside looks very Lexus-ish. The Inside seems really budget.

May have to take a look at one of these when it's time to get rid of the Camry. Hmm..

And am I the only one that instantly spotted the FR-S and kept looking at it instead of the truck?

I am in shock we had that Asphalt 6MT for over a week already. We did have some storms recently so people are not really thinking about RWD sports cars though.
