ABS and TRAC Light came on last night

On my way to a local meet my traction and abs light came on when I came to a stop at a light. Turned off the car thinking it was a fault and quickly turned it back on, lights cleared. Driving another hour I came to a complete stop at a light and the lights came back on a second time. Confused this time so I turned off the car and turned it back on and it cleared itself again never stayed on.

If it comes on I will stop by the dealer if I can because it's the second time it cleared after restarting the car.

anyone had this similar thing going on? only suspension/brake mod I have is a grimspeed master cylinder brace.

I have stock wheels, never removed or rotated yet.

The TCS relies on ABS for operation, so it sounds like you might have a wheel sensor going bad or something.

This happened to me recently as well. It was cold and sleeting and I happened to look down and both of the lights where on. Like you, I turned it off and back on and it just appeared. I thought it might have been related to the ice and sleet. I parked it in my garage over night and when I went to work the next morning it was gone.

Happened to me too. I went over a bump and suddenly the light went on. It didn't go away until I turned off the engine. When I turned it on again, the light went away.

My technician at toyota read the code and says a problem engine related which would normally show if the check engine light is on, but it isnt and there is no problems, he will look up the code later and tell me more.

Same thing happened to me once at 1700km and last night at 2800km both times were in slippery snow conditions.

I just caught this issue tonight.

I can restart the car and the trac and ABS light will stay off as normal but as soon as I put it into gear, both lights come on and stay illuminated. On the highway on the way home, the car tried to limit my speed to 55mph in a sort of intermittent limp mode.

It is possible that a wheel sensor gets blocks by ice or something or gets jars or something and has to be reset. Not sure.

Mine is also a manual transmission. I have not experienced the issue again after that night with the sleet. I am wondering if ice was lodged somewhere it shouldn't have been.
