I want to open a discussion about buying either a light weight pulley kit or an intake system. Price range is comparable so I am struggling with which to purchase. My experience with bolt on products is minimal. Both appear to be simple and practical. So what is the general consensus? Pulley kit or intake system.

I am not interested in discussing tunes, suspension etc.

In my opinion I would do the intake first. When I first started with bolt on products I always did the intake first. I have both on my car currently and love them. The intake could potentially help you out with mpg too a little. It also changes the sound of the car a little

My first mod is the aFe Takeda Intake, oiled. From there, I'm getting a Nameless Headerback next, followed by an FA20club aFe tune.

imho dont waste your money on an intake system

save and purchase a drop-in filter instead

our WORKS filter outperforms intake systems

I cut a bigger hole for the air to reach the snorkel. I wont get an intake either.

I have yet to see a replacement intake that seemed to add anything beyond the drop-in panels other than to change the OEM box. Hence why I have yet to drop the coin on one yet.

On the other side, the stock box is UGLY. And I would really like to change it.

I had a light weight pulley on my car. I removed it and found that the 'spokes' were collecting dirt. Afterward i also noticed an oil leak, that would only happen when I was driving, was gone. My suggestion is if you're going to get a pulley look for one with a plane face.

I dont have any experience with intakes on this car, but the stock system seems very efficient. The pulley did give a noticable change and I wouldn't mind getting a different one.

Sounds like you want the Kartboy pulley I'm considering selling.

I personally would save your money, buy a drop in filter and get an Ecutek tune. That is proving to be the single biggest performance gain you can get with one modification. From there get a crank pulley, the seconday pulleys like the ones that Go Fast Bits makes are not really necessary but the crank pulley does have a noticeable effect on throttle response.

Drop in and silicone tubing is probably best bet right now. Get the Perrin silicone tubing theirs will work with their CAI if you decide to ever upgrade. My dream set up would be their silicone tubing, Works drop in and a Syms racing intake duct that attaches to the oem air box.

Their air duct adds 10 whp and 8 wtq as they claim obviously no 3rd party has been done yet but they arent a company I would say would release bull shit numbers just for the sake of sales. I am sure they have a drop in in theirs already when dyno'd or tuned but if not then even better when combining all 3.
