Guard Transmission pretty much owns Gran-Am and Rolex Racing... Lots of Prestigious history there..

I'm not familiar with 8620, but I do work with 4340 now and then. Nice stuff, hard on tooling. If they really are making each unit as a one off per customer, the price is justified.

Matt Monson pops in on NASIOC from time to time. I recall Matt saying he was experimenting with ramping rates etc., but wasn't sure if he was going to offer a BRZ differential. Pretty sure I can't afford anything Guard sells anyway.

IIRC Porsche has used Subaru supplied differential's in the past, I wonder if this was something they "had on the shelf" not literally but from a manufacturing standpoint they may have found they were already tooled up for the job so to speak.

It's not like the R180 R200 and R230 aren't FHI differentials found under every RWD nissan dating to the 240Z....

Subaru make a very good differential (read in horrible Japanese accent)

.. been waiting about 7 months for it..

.. it IS assembled pretty much the same way the Porsche Diff is tho..

Subaru has mimicked Porsche in many ways in the past, even beyond the boxer motor, so that wouldn't surprise me. If my understanding is correct the Subaru tranny is laid out almost identially to a Porsche AWD system, just backwards. It's also very similar to the original Audi Quattro setup.

Porsche also helped develop the EG33 in the SVX. 3.3 liters and 240 hp NA was a heck of a powerplant back in the early 90's. For reference, my parents had a 96 Dodge Caravan that had a 3.x liter engine that made 160 hp. Yuck.
