highest mpg possible

So guys I'm averaging 26.2 mostly city. I shift around 3k rpm. What's the best way to maximize mpg ?

1st seems like it chugs under 2k . So I tend to rev high to avoid the bumpy start.

Pointers?

i get about 30 mpg when w/ mostly city driving, 34 if mostly highway (this includes plenty of 'spirited' revving)... it sounds stupid but treating the pedal like theres an egg inbetween your foot and the pedal really helps. also, when coasting in traffic or anticipating a stop or just general decelaration, always put the clutch in asap which acts as if your car is in neutral while youre still moving, greatly improves mpg

Ive gotten 29.8 over the first 2200 miles on the car overall. Thats less than 40% highway, and definitely some spirited driving

Wait...are you saying you rev it higher then 2k rpms when starting from a dead stop? That is very high, and you shouldn't need to do that. Not to sound like a jerk, but are you new at driving manual?

For me, recently i've been getting around 26mpg, I would say 50/50 driving, and I have fun driving it.

I think with no input on the gas pedal, the engine will try to stay at idle speed. If you are getting off the freeway for example and you push the clutch in to coast to a stop, you are spending that fuel needed to idle for the entire time you have the clutch in or are in neutral. If you leave it in gear however, the wheels turning connected to the engine will keep the engine spinning faster than idle so the engine will give no fuel. This saves fuel and brake pads, I just wouldn't recommend downshifting to brake.

Other tips are to start slow and if you are on flat ground going a constant speed, put it in 6th where you can put around at a low rpm. try to reduce inconsistent speeds, if you usually go on a road at 50mph, but you know there is a turn you have to slow to 30mph then speed back up, try just going 30 and never have to slow/speed up. If you are running errands, go to your furthest destination first, this will allow your engine to warm up completely so you get better mileage on the shorter runs back.

There are plenty of other ways but these are things that are easiest to change and most people don't think about when trying to get the most mpg. I'm at 31.5mpg now and I only drive city, less than 5 miles to work.

highest mpg possible? ive done 42 mpgs all highway in one trip doing 65 i average about 31 on the display about 30-32 mpg between fillups 35 city/65 highway (i fill up 10.5 gallons when the light comes on)

I think 26.2 mpg mostly city driving is good.
I get just over 30 mpg, 1/2 city & 1/2 highway.
I would just have fun driving it without worrying about the mpg.

This car, whether AT or MT appears to experience a very wide range of FE depending on driving style, ambient temperature, topography,trip length, you name it, it appears to have a noticeable difference.

My best FE so far is 46.9 100% highway with a worst of 25.2 100% city(winter short trip) based calculation from refuelling additions.

As you can see from the info on this site, normal is very broad!

During break in long road trip to NY was getting 34mpg consistently

now its like Sub 25

I'm doing almost always city driving, and it's really freakin cold out and I get about 25 MPG. Anything better than that would be easy to acheive unless you have a heavy foot!

Check your tire pressure and verify that it's about 35psi.
