Scion FRS Bespoke Backup Camera, What do I need?
I've read every damn backup camera thread on here and haven't pieced together what I need to get this working with the OEM BeSpoke head unit. There was a thread many months ago and a vendor was selling a kit that was plug and play with the bespoke.
I don't care about the BRZ stuff since that appears to be a completely different pinout since the headunit is different. Is anyone running a backup camera on their FRS (NOT BRZ)? If so can you post pictures, model numbers, anything? Maybe I missed a thread but I feel like I searched for everything and have come up empty handed. |

I used a Boyo VTB123HD camera on mine, for the camera connection into the factory loom plug I found that the instrument cluster terminals from a ZZE122 corolla are the same size/style so I grabbed a couple of the cluster plugs from a car at the wreckers.
I modified the RCA cable that came with the camera to replace the RCA plug with two of the corolla cluster plug terminals, then clipped those into the factory 86 headunit loom plug. My factory headunit only puts out 6V for the camera power, so I also used a mini relay to switch in ignition 12V for the boyo camera, triggered by the headunit 6V wire. |

here's some pics...

To get the headunit's built-in lines I need to use the other rear camera input on the back of the headunit and cut the blue wire on the boyo loom to disable the boyo's own lines. |

Adapter needed
Hello,
It makes a while you have posted this message. Hoping this will help you if you didn't install yet a back-up camera. I've made an installation this week on my Scion TC of a back-up camera and it works good. The Pioneer audio system is compatible to display the image. However you need an adaptor (72 $ US) to plug behind the system. Here's the link to buy it. http://www.beatsonicusa.com/bcus3-536.html Good luck! |

PM BeatSonic. I have their front and rear camera installed on my FRS. Great customer service and no drilling on the install.

I used the adapter sold here:
http://www.autoharnesshouse.com/19867.html It has the relay pre-wired to the harness and it's a bit cheaper. btw...this is a really old thread. I think there are some pretty good tutorials on this forum for how to do this install now.

If you would like very inexpensive transmit to phone, you could try 4Ucam. I have one but use it only once in a while.
