Can this valve stem be rebuilt?
The inside of this non-TPMS valve stem is hollow. Is it possible to get them rebuilt at a tire shop, or do I need to buy a new valve stem kit?

It's not so much a case of "rebuild" but rather just a matter of replacing the valve core. Any auto supply store should have what you need.

It's hard to tell from the picture, but I'm assuming the stem is snapped off? If so I think you're out of luck. If it's attached to a TPMS sensor you'll probably need to get a whole new unit.
If its just a plain valve stem without a sensor they're cheap, just replace it.

Hard to tell from the pic. But it looks like they just took the valve out of the stem. This is the easiest ways for the guys to deflate the tires before dismount, mount, balance etc.
They should be able to plug a new valve in there. no worries. If not, it's a simple swap to a new one. |

The reason I want to use these is because they're metal. I think most tire shops only carry rubber stems. |

Yep. Your good. Any tire shop can drop a valve in there. All you need is threads on/in the stem.

Or just pick up a valve kit and do it yourself. Most auto parts stores have them.
