Reflashing

Wilsonville Toyota called me yesterday to tell me to bring my car in. Apparently, the regional tech passed on to them new instructions on how to fix certain issues with the FR-S. The issue I came in with was the oscillating idle (which only apparently happens when it's warm).

What they told me was that they needed to reflash the computer (I'm assuming the ECU?) and that that would resolve my issue "along with a bunch of other minor issues" that other people were having.

Anybody get a similar message? Thoughts? Comments?

Off topic. But say we got our car tuned/reflashed. Would the factory flash wipe the tune flash?

If it's anything like flashing the firmware of a phone or the bios of a computer I would assume that yes, it would overwrite it.

But that's just a guess.

Please let me know how this works for you. I also got mine at Wilsonville, but don't really have the idling issue. My car does seem to experience a little idle dip when I am stopped, only about 100 rpms.

So far, the flash hasn't really done anything noticeable though I sense the ECU is relearning the car. Thing is, I won't really know until it gets warm out if it really made any difference.

Does it fix it? Won't know until it's warmer.

I got a snailmail about that very same thing, "Early model year 2013 FR-S"

I am going to get it fixed in February when I go in for my first oil change.

Afaik, the reflash is for a water pump and thermostat dtc , there is no fuel management update as part of the ECM reflash
