Professional Installation for HID?

Guys, wanted to run something by you all. I have seen a lot of HID kit installs (PnP) and was going to do it myself however, at my dealer, I was told by one of the finance guys that if the kit is not installed professionally that it could void the warranty. He actually owns 2 FR-Ss and had his installed by a shop. Is that true because I don't want to have to pay someone to install it if I can do it myself.

You can do it yourself, do not pay someone to install it. Plus then you dont have to worry about someone else working on your car and you know you did it right. All you do is plug them into your OEM wiring and attach the ballast somewhere. Just remember to fold down your "squirrel finders" so you dont get that glow above the cut off line.

Now if you got a legit bixenon kit then thats a different story.

Something isn't right. I tried the install today. I have the 5000K H11 HID Kit from DDM Tuning and one side of the lights won't work. Any thoughts?

void warranty on bulbs? lol!

i got full HID and LED on my car and my lights had condensation.

got new lights from dealer without questions. covered by warranty

your finance guy does not know what he's talking about i guess

they must send you a bad ballast of bulbs. trying switching the ballast from the other side to that side. or the bulbs

and see which one is broken

Switched ballasts and the same bulb won't light up. How slow is the RMA process at DDM, anyone know?

Same with mine, just use a zip tie to hold them together.

Also to the OP, putting new bulbs in your headlight can't void your warranty unless they melt the housing or something crazy like that.

Thanks for all the help guys. I will give this a shot tomorrow morning and report back.

I knew that adding HID's doesn't do anything in terms of splicing or cutting factory wires or opening/damaging the headlights and I tried to make a case but he insisted on having it professionally installed...

Just checked this at 7am this morning, couldn't wait (ofcourse) and I think one of the bulbs is bad for sure. I switched polarity and that one bulb flickers for a second and goes out. I examined the bulbs carefully and the one that does not light up, the middle section (bulbous part) is greenish/yellow so maybe thats an indicator for it not being good whereas the other one is clear.
