Opinions guys..

I just want your opinion over what kind of cat back exhaust to choose. Two final candidate for me is Perrin and TRD. I'm having mix emotions on what to choose cuz of thinking about future mods to the exhaust system like making it a headerback option or putting aftermarket headers. Resonated Perrin will likely be a good option of that but TRD have a unique characters over it. The exhaust tip and the sound of it being as a cat back alone but will likely be so loud after putting it as a headerback or aftermarket headers on.

I can see like as a catback, both almost look the same just the tip.

which one? bummer! Thanks.

Generally speaking, exhaust is good for sound, looks, throttle response, and a little power gain. What are your future plans?

I wouldn't buy anything TRD. You can get way better and save some good money. TRD = Total Ripoff Dude

Perrin man, go with the Perrin. Better quality and will last you much longer. The Perrin is all 304 Stainless Steel and wont rust. The TRD is the same galvanized steel that the original exhaust it made of. Not to mention Perrin's customer service is top-notch.

For sure I will be performance driving the car in the near future (when I get another car for DD, that's when headers and and make my catback to a full header back exhaust will get into picture but for now I have this as my DD) so likely all those stuff you mentioned is what I want. But sound wise for now as DD, considering exhaust is good for sound, looks, throttle response, and a little power gain and don't want it to sound obnoxious in the street, i can't make my mind up.

Haven't seen much on performance of the TRD, but it is very quiet. Resonated Perrin is great if you plan on aftermarket headers. All depends on how loud you want it to go, and Perrin at least offers a headerback solution versus just the catback of the TRD exhaust. The price of the TRD doesn't justify the performance though.

I will admit that my knowledge of some headers isn't quite up there compared to the rest, but I do know that there are 2 catalytic converters on our cars (1 built into the headers and 1 at the front pipe). The CSG BRZ currently has a front pipe and a prototype axle-back setup exhaust (essentially a "catback" from the header) and we track that setup probably 20 track days already the past 4 months. The setup is pretty DD friendly so I have no doubt you can find a good exhaust setup that would accommodate DD no problem. PM me if you want to know more about it.

Alright guys! Thanks for all your feedback! Made my decision to go w/ Perrin! Solved by the looks, quality, r&d it had to prove performance wise, and for later upgrades (headers and full header back). made my research on deals I can get it cheaper! Haa! Thanks guys!

i see nobody in favor of TRD lol. well me, I would say go for TRD for uniqueness (only for now lol), i know perrin has good quality no doubt about it. but its just too common now. there are only few has the TRD exhaust, I think lol. you can get it from toyotapartsoutlet for $940.

So...let me get this straight...you're telling him to get the TRD, which is more expensive and built crappier, just because it's different and no one else has it? Do you work for Toyota Corporate?

hey TRD parts have high craftsmanship and way more r&d. For your info the TRD USA exhaust is different from the jdm own. Trd USA ive never had any problems with and i dont really like the Us spec exhaust tips (thats just me). As for what to do best bang for buck get a stg 1 tune from fa20club. If you want my opinion on exhaust, its all you in the end to make final decision. I stand by TRD because their products are specifically developed for toyota /scions with racing history in every motorsports. Name another Japanese in house that is like that. TRD = #1. (look at the trd n1 ae86 parts)
GO hks or greddy. Cant beat japan quality but you gotta pay for it.
