The official name of the Scion version is...

I dunno. What do you all think it will be? FR-S is the concept name. Will it break the 2-letter tradition (xA, xB, tC, xD)? Or what will its 2-letter name be? aE? gT? fR? xS? 86?

I totally did not see "GT 86" coming and never thought "86" would make it through. Who can call out the Scion name before we find out on the 30th?

its gonna be FRS

FRS isnt just a concept name its the name of the car

trademarked and all

all the marketing in NA uses it and Scion dealership I went too confirmed it by that name as well

besides the broke their naming ways with the Tc already but that was because there is already a xc (volvo) which I took as who cares about our naming system as long as we can sell the car

Like how tC is short for touring coupe I could see Scion being a naming convention whore and call it something like:

bC - boxster coupe

frC - front engine, rear wheel, coupe

rC - rear wheel coupe

or something along those lines..... but I really hope theres at least one sensible person in Scion and stick with FR-S or heck Scion 86 sounds alright too, as tripjammer pointed out.

EDIT: Mr.Jay I hope you're right

I thought they already announced the USA name was Scion FR-S?

That would explain the steering wheel "86" badge cover-up in the test mule.

Hey FR-S sounds better than BRZ....lmao!

But BRZ works for Subaru....because Subaru BRZ sounds nice together.

Scion FR-S sounds nice

Toyota 86 or Toyota GT 86 pimp names!
Because it brings history to the car...

Oh well...I am going scion so I will have to deal with it...

I'm pretty sure I'm right

what do the other names stand for? or is the Tc the only one with a meaning behind its name?

Mr.Jay can you point us to a reference where it says FR-S is the production version name? As far as I know all Scion marketing has been done on the concept.

How bout this: xF
I said it first.

look at the reports from the NYIAS. They state that FR-S has been trademarked for Canada and US.

This works out considering that it was also mentioned that the "86" was trademarked as well by Toyota and now that name is the one being used for Japan and GT86 is being used for the rest of the toyotas.

Its doesnt make any sense for them to trademark do all this marketing then change the name after it has become synonymous with their brand

Just my thinking of course but it was also what I was told by my dealership

It's the 86 to me. That's what it should have been here in the first place, and what I'll call it.

Thought in a press conference a while ago he said "FRS" which is against the normal naming like tC or xB because it is a different type of car than the rest?
