I found myself several times in that video saying, "don't lift, don't lift...ahhhh! You LIFTED!"

Good fun. I'd love to go to a F1 race at Spa then bounce over to Nuremberg for some fun on the Ring.

This is my lap in a rental Gti ... I looked all over for a frs/gt86/brz but there wasn't one to rent yet. I went in August, right after I purchased my car.

How does that work? Can you rent any car and drive on the 'ring? Also I heard somewhere that it's set up like a toll road, so does that mean you pay per lap around? Sorry to thread jack but this is a serious wet dream of mine so I'm starting to plan now

The ring is officially a public toll road. It starts and ends in the same place, is a one way road, and has the same rules and laws at the autobahn.

There is a speed limit on the bridge (high speed straight in video games) during public driving days, which is sometimes enforced by helicopter.

You can officially drive anything that is street legal. I saw motorscooters and motorhomes going around the ring while I was there.

So, yes you can rent any vehicle and bring it to the ring, however, most rental companies know that people try to do this and will track the vehicle with GPS. If it is found to have entered the ring, they can shut the car down and have it towed (at your expense). I have heard stories online of people getting life time bans from certain rental car companies for doing this.

Also, if you want to try to push your comfort zone at all, it is not recommended to do this in a traditional rental car, as the brakes and tires are not sufficient.

There are rental car companies, such as the site listed above, which rent cars out only to go onto the ring. They are generally located at the entrance to the ring and come with semi-slick tires, track brakes, roll bars/cages, upgraded suspensions ect.

I rented a car from http://www.rentracecar.de/ with the gas and toll's included in the price of the rental. This was nice, so that I did not have to worry about anything, once I got there.

I ended up driving 6 laps in about 2 hours, with doing runs in 2 lap increments and then taking a 10 min break. This was more than enough driving for me, as I have never done anything so intense in my life and I was exhausted afterwards. I know that if I did a whole day, I would have ended up wrecking from being too exhausted to focus properly.

There are some other places to look into renting from as well.

Thanks! I'm glad you can go around more than once with the car, that was my worry, but I totally agree a full day would be exhausting on that surface. Great info I really appreciate it!

I know I am 2 years late to the party, but if you go to Nuremberg you might be in for a disappointment.
