Tires for winter

HI,

I live in Allentown, PA. It looks like will snow soon.
I thought the OEM tires are four seasons tires before.
Actually, I am wrong.
It wrote 215/45 R17 87W “summer” high performance tires on official Subaru website
http://www.subaru.com/vehicles/brz/vehicle-specs.html
Is this fine to drive in winter? Or I need four seasons tires at least?
Any suggestion for the tires (Brand& model)?
Thanks a lot.

You need all seasons at least.

I drove on the stock tires in snow and it was like driving on pure ice.

Also, search. LOTS of topics on this already.

Lot of people are going for General Altimax Arctics as a cheap solution. 16" steelies with 205/55/16's comes out to just over $700 shipped on tirerack

By the way, check out the regional forum. We randomly try to plan events and there was a Lehigh Valley run a few months ago that should come back up come spring.

I went with the conti's on the stock rims. Have yet to have them mounted and we just got our first dump of snow. Stock tires are 100% s#1t in snow!!! Like I've driven 2wd half ton trucks that do better in the white stuff. Snows will be mounted Wednesday so ill let u know how they compare.

I have the factory all-seasons and even those sucked. I was all over the place. I think most dedicated winter tires will be just fine. I bought Hankook iPikes in factory spec.
