5 Axis Spoiler installed - with images

Finally got around to installing my 5 Axis Spoiler and thought I might share my journey on getting this on the car.

I received the spoiler unpainted so I took it down to my local spray painter that does excellent work on hot rods etc and has painted my BMW for me in the past.
If you open the instructions before you get it painted you will save your self tons of time. I always planed to read them when installing the spoiler as I didnt have any experience in putting one on.

Long story short the instructions also tell you how to prepare the spoiler for painting including masking the inner edges with making tape as it cannot have any paint on it to attach to the car...... It took me about 2 hours to correct this with fine sand paper. Lesson learnt.

If you have the spoiler with baked enamel paint it also says not to exceed 120deg as you will warp the spoiler and it wont fit.

When you are putting on the tape to the spoiler make sure you know the right way up when you leave the gap in the tape to allow for the air to escape when placed on the car. The gap of course is at the bottom middle of the spoiler. its easy to put it at the top when you are putting the tape on and then all it will do of course is fill up with water.

Use masking tape to give you a guide on where the spoiler edge finishes so you can put it in the right spot. You pretty much only have one chance. Follow the instructions and you will be fine.

I love this spoiler, its a great edition and is not to over the top, enjoy.

I did look at the one I just thought this looked a bit more refined. I am thinking of getting the TRD front spoiler though. This car is low even as standard. Wonder how people are going lowing the car as well.

I quite like the TRD front spoiler, but I think it is too aggressive on it's own. I think it might look out of place without the rear and sides. But that's jsut me
I have the TRD wing, and I am going to get a TRD style quad exhaust with the muffler garnishes too.

I know what you mean..think you might be right. May be some carbon fibre skirts........ I like the quad idea, I have my SRT exhaust going in on Friday after my first service. I have a few idle issues, just read there is a new flash for it. Hope they have it here in Australia.

Very nice! Since it's not bolted on are you worried someone could try to pull it off?

Looks fantastic--it really finishes off the rear end, IMO. Nicely done--enjoy!

This spoiler looks amazing on Fuji Red. You've just sold me on it.

This and the Beatsonic fin will be the only body mods I'll be carrying out.

Not at all. It will pretty much distroy the spoiler. The bonding agent used is very strong and I think would probally warp the spoiler and wouldn't fit very well when you tried to put it on another car. That's my theory anyway.

Did you do any special surface prep to the boot where the spoiler is stuck on? i.e. good wash to get rid of old wax?

I know the spoiler comes with that adhesion promoter pen, just wondering if you did anything else as prep.

Cheers
