Does the US BRZ meet emission standards of all 50 states?

California has different emission standards. Did Subaru/Toyota make the same model BRZ/FRS for all 50 states? Would it pass emission standards anywhere?

Getting certification is an expensive process, so it's in car makers' interest to cover all 50 states with one version. There are very few, if any, cars that are limited to only some states. The sticker under the hood shows the rating.

Some manufacturers still make cars that will not pass here in California, DMV will fail you if you drag that car into the state and try to register it. That's why around LA you'll see a ton of out of state plates on cars.

Most of the time you will find imports will pass all 50 states as it is easier to ship just 1 version of a product instead of 2 versions.

But yes the BRZ/FR-S will pass all 50 states.

I called SOA to confirm that before, and no problem to show my CO car to CA DMV and registered. This is not always true to all year model Subaru made.

Now you've got me curious - which ones did they make that are not "California-ready"? How long ago?

Am...my out of state sales guy told me once about all these differences and my selective hearing only hear "the BRZ is good for 50 states" part.
