I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but these are not "official" AP Racing brake kits. These brake kits are assembled in California by Stillen, using AP Racing calipers, and an array of other components they've either sourced from different suppliers or manufactured themselves.

In the near future, AP Racing will be releasing their "official" Formula Brake Systems, which will be fully built and assembled in England using all AP Racing component. The kits listed in this thread are not those however. Thanks.:happy0180:

Nathan
Yes. Essex (the company I work for) is AP Racing's competition parts importer for North America. Stillen/Brake Pros imports and distributes road parts. Essex and Stillen are completely different companies, and we use totally different parts in the kits we assemble and sell.

AP Racing also produces their own line of Formula Brake Systems, which they build and assemble in England. Essex will be selling those systems when they are released, but I have no idea if Stillen will be.

Hopefully that clears it up.

So just to be clear, it's possible these are the same calipers as are used in your or AP's official kits, but the supporting hardware may/is likely to be different?

I'd assume AP only makes a certain number of calipers that will fit our cars.

Thanks,
Nathan

These are indeed Stillen/AP Racing kits... You can get the European version AP kits which are typically monoblock kits, but they're usually double the cost at times. The Stillen/AP Kits are more affordable, and will still give you great performance as well.

Essex is more of the "race" distributor for AP Racing, as Stillen/AP is more of the "road" supplier in the US. Essex BBK is using a race caliper, no dust boots or seals, like the kit we have here would use. These use fully compatible road calipers, to be used on a daily driving basis, without having to rebuild them for street use.

A race set up, is obviously for racing, not very friendly for the streets. Different pad compounds are offered with the Essex kit, which are non-street friendly as well, but we can offer a different brake pad to the Stillen/AP kit if desired to be more dominant on the track.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but I believe vendors/shops like Stillen and Essex use some components like the caliper that are AP Racing. The caliper were intended as a "universal" fit for any car, and they would pick out the caliper from the AP Racing catalog. Then Stillen or Essex would outsource or fab or tweak other parts such as SS lines, mounts/bracket, pads, etc.

There officially seems to be no pricing on these.

Wpuld it be safe to assume that these kits will be cheaper than the Essex kits since they use lower end parts?

These kits have been up on Evasive's website for awhile now. At least 1 week.

STILLEN/AP Racing kits

Hello all, I am joining in to set the record straight. STILLEN is the commercial and technical partner in developing high performance road car brake upgrades for the North American market and have been since 1998. We design, test and build our AP Racing kits here at our Costa Mesa, CA facilities. We manufacture bells/hats, caliper brackets, hardware in house and use AP Racing calipers and AP Racing discs in the majority of our kits and also use discs made to our specifications, all with AP Racings support.

Our AP Racing kits are designed for high performance and track use, while maintaining all of the safety and durability requirements for everyday use on public roads.

Essex is AP Racings racing distributor for North America and handles AP Racing components for "race use" only and not not legal for street use. They also disribute AP Racings Formula kits that are designed and assembled in the UK by AP Racing as we do. The Formula kits are designed for street use. They also sell other products for racing and street (pads, fluids, brake lines, etc.)

You are free to contact our brake division to find out for your self. If you need more details on our AP Racing kits, please let me know.
