Aftermarket lug nuts with trunk spare?

Today I saw someone driving around on a donut, and it occurred to me that I might be in trouble if I got a flat tire. I'm currently running aftermarket wheels with McGard cone seat lug nuts. Will these lug nuts work with the stock trunk spare wheel? If not, I should probably throw 5 of the stock nuts in the trunk.

This thread (http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19919) is suggesting you can use aftermarket conical lug nuts with the stock wheels, but I wanted to check on the spare.

However, I also found this in another thread:

On Subarus (and the FR-S, but I repeat myself... HA!!!) the lug-nuts are conical, which makes them identical to any of the aftermarket lug-nuts you could buy. Subaru wheels are probably the only stock wheels in the world you could use Rays, Project Kics, or Mutegi on just fine.

So it seems to follow that if you can use stock lug-nuts on the spare tire, then you can use aftermarket ones as well.
