brz arriving within 2 weeks. should I get it?
So I ordered my brz around June and I finally got a call letting me know the car will be arriving by November 16 or sooner. So I actually been contemplating since the refresh is about 6 months away should I really get it now or wait for the refresh? I think one of the main reasons for me to get it now was that I was able to get it at msrp. And most likely once the 2nd gen comes out They won't have that incentive. Decisions decisions.... anyone got any advice?

6 months away is half a year. Before you know it, there's going to be a 2015 model.
When it comes to cars n everything, always going to be outdated sooner or later, so just go buy it. Its WORTH it

Refresh? 2014 isn't a "refresh," nor is it "2nd gen," nor is buying a car at MSRP considered an "incentive" to buy, at least where I come from. You also have to consider that supply will have caught up with demand, or at least be in a considerably better position when the 2014 cars roll around, and dealers won't be able to charge mark-ups anymore in order to make a sale.
Cars generally aren't refreshed until mid-cycle, or 2-3 years into production. 2014 will be iterative at best, and while no one knows exactly what will have changed, I doubt there will be anything compelling. Also, the 2014 BRZ is most likely well over 6 months way. The 2013 model was released unusually early in the calendar year as compared to the vast majority of car launches. My guess is that it will be Q3 2013 before the 2014-MY BRZ rolls around. |

Yeah - the next year's model may not come out till next September. No one really knows. And what changes will be made - again unknown. Also unknown would be the price. Or what colors are available.
Take the WRX for example. MY02 was first year in US. I think it had about a 15 month run. MY04 came out early - May or June of 2003. Changes made to the headlights and taillights, but the interior got cheaper (IMO). Much prefer the '02-'03 interior. Subaru is pretty good at keeping the next MY changes a secret until they're about to release it. There's just no way to tell except in retrospect. And we don't know if the next MY will be as limited quantity as MY13. So if you wait, there's no telling when you may get one - could be another year from now. Who knows. You want the car now, get it now. If you can wait, then wait. I got mine June 1 - and I've loved driving it. I could have waited a few years if I wanted to - but I wanted to buy and enjoy this car now. Bottom line - its up to you. Roll the dice and see. |

I am in the same boat..ordered in June and received a call from the dealer this past week with my VIN and that my BRZ will arrive Nov 12th.
But I am more concerned about the realibity of the car...with all the issues I have been reading about, I don't want to spend the next 6 months at the dealer getting my BRZ repaired over and over. |

Remember this is a car forum of enthusiasts. Most people that dont have problems are still not everyone and to see those that arent you have to follow their journal to even know. With that being said the gps may have issues but there is a bulliten on it so no worries and it may sound like crickets invaded ur engine bay in traffic sometimes. If crickets dont bother you then you should get. Its a great car and a blast to drive. Im at over 9,000 miles and have no issues other then the ones I stated above. There will always be something newer and better sooner or later so enjoy it now.
