what are the dots for?

this may be a really stupid question but this is my first car (i've drive trucks my whole life) i've never had a climate control knob that has dots between the positions. what are they for?

I believe combintation of the two it is between.

Those dots are an input device for a puzzle. Turn the knob from dot to dot in the correct sequence, and the little tray underneath dispenses a rolled-up note, with clues leading you to a Civil War cemetery in southern Pennsylvania, where you will discover that the wife of Jesus Christ created a puzzle box three days after his crucifixion... a puzzle box that calls forth a horrible race called the Cenobites, who are the key to fully disabling both your VSC and TCS.

Or, you know, you can use the logic centers of your brain to deduce that they are in-between points for air circulation. Or read the manual. Either or.
