Overall I think Alienware is decent but overpriced. If it was up to me I would buy a cheap netbook when I need portability and a nice custom desktop to game on. Price would end up costing about the same.

Not a big fan. They had issues with the old m11x and the hinges basically snapping. Alienware is owned by dell now.... which is not a bad thing... but... it is necessary to take the quality with a some reserve.

I just ordered a new laptop as well. I picked up the Lenovo Y580. The ideapads are not as durable as the thinkpads are, but the customer support is a lot better with lenovo than dell (from my own experience).

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with the alienwares, I'm just not a big fan. That and they stand out a bit more.

I have a custom desktop already dedicated for gaming and stuff but i did want a laptop that would be dedicated to my car and while i dont need anything crazy i figured i would get something that could hold its own weight later on. Thanx for the advice. I thought it was a bit overpriced too but my job offers some nice discounts so the price went from 1154 to 938 bucks so it wasnt that bad. this is the specs what do you think.

Specs look better then I expected for the price. One thing I recommend you doing is upgrading to an SSD. That upgrade alone made my PC feel much more snappy at everyday task. They are also getting pretty cheap nowadays

Buy it after you get the laptop. I would go with the Crucial M4. I'm not sure if you have 2 harddrive bays but if you do, you could go with a small primary drive and then keep the HDD for storage.

That sounds like a lot of computer for under a thousand bucks.

My Asus laptop has served me well over the years. In case anybody was considering one of those.
