garage door opener options

For those of you without the homelink option, what have you done to hide your garage door openers?

I have a 6MT and have been considering putting my garage door opener button in place of the AT snow mode button (empty on the 6MT). Haven't taken that panel apart yet so don't really know the feasibility, but getting the AT snow button and rewiring to an opener would be pretty clean.

Having an ugly opener on my visor bothers me. Maybe you guys have some better ideas

I went ghetto and velcro'd my opener under the topside of the storage space under the vent controls. It's barely noticeable and can still fit a phone in there.

Yeah, my gate and garage opener are both in that little compartment, held in place by double faced tape. Almost like that's what it was made for.

This. There is already a factory plug up in the headliner. Buy the thing for 250 from subaru parts and plug it in. And get an auto-dimming mirror with a compass as well.

I just got the home link mirror myself. Gonna install it this weekend. I'll be glad to get all my garage door openers out my car.

Love homelink! Keeps the code to the garage after battery pulls too!

I was going to do this on my WRX.

They used the same type of Homelink they use in Fords. Available on eBay for $25

Let me suggest a different idea. The carpeting in our cars is exactly like the soft ("loop") half of velcro. I stuck a piece of the scratchy ("hook") half of velcro tape on the back of my garage door transmitter and placed it on the side sill below the door opening, just above the fuel door release handle. It stays there perfectly securely and is easy to find and use by feel.

Super easy and practically free, it gets the transmitter out of the way but still provides ready access.

Great idea! I even have the same opener.

Another idea a little further removed from the box is going with a Bluetooth Opener

That's a pretty cool idea. Wish that Bluetooth controller had an app that worked with windows phone.
