Orange 86 GTS at AIMS (Sydney Motor Show)

In case anyone is interested and hasn't had a look at the Orange GTS, there's one at AIMS.

So I wasn't so sure about the Orange and started having second thoughts, I haven't actually seen one in the flesh, but now I'm sold on the idea. Now hopefully Toyota deliver my GTS by December.

Toyota also revealed 2013 Corolla, which you may be able to get before the 86

I laughed at the idea of orange until I saw one in the flesh.

The car looks great in that colour.

Completely stock. I got a couple of pics of it. I will try and post them up over the next couple of days.

Although the crowd around that and the STI BRZ did make it hard to get a clear shot. I kinda did feel warm a fuzzy knowing how popular they were at the show. I couldn't help but secretly smile inside knowing that I got one.

I remember last years MelbMshow and the last concept version in black was ALSO a big favorite - you could see it in ppl's faces & the chitter-chatter that went with it. The ppl were just hanging out for another Toyota sportscar ! The fact it was developed jointly with Subaru has made it even more interesting.

I think people just want an affordable sports car...there is nothing else like in its price range. Only thing close to it is an MX5 or a 370z. Which are a both above the 40k mark.

I nearly choked when I saw that Chris Harris review of the 370 vs 86 and heard that the 370Z was under 30,000 Pounds in the UK. That's roughly 45,000 Aussie dollars.

Where the hell is Nissan getting the other 30,000 dollars from? Rip off!

So the 370Z is 75k for a facelifted 10 year old design of the 350Z with a slightly bigger engine.

86/BRZ is 35k for a brand new engine, brand new chassis.

I was at AIMS yesterday, was funny, i "accidentally" spoke too loudly to my cousin about my 86 next to the crowd that was intrested and checking out the 86. One guy walked up to me and goes "sorry, i heard you say you got one of these car?" i'm like "all good, yeah! I got a pearl white one "

some dude: hey cuz does it go fast bro?
me: err....it goes pretty good according to me. I don't know what's fast you.
some dude: how fast does it go from 0-100?
me: err.... i don't remember, i think it's under 6 or 7secs
some dude: That's alright bro! I'm going to get one next year!
me: good luck with that!

I spoke to one of the guys from Surbaru side about the STi stuff. he said it's going to be out in like a couple of months and all parts fit on both 86 and BRZ - just in case something doesn't work out between the twins. I'm thinking about getting the STi engine strut bar. checking to see if it's cheaper then TRD. :P

LOL @ the conversation!

Every time at the lights:
some dude: Hey bro! That's the new Toyota eh!? Looks hot!
me: Yea man. Cheers.
some dude: Does it have a turbo?
me: Nar... lol. But it's light so it still feel pretty quick.

Every fucking time with the turbo question... I don't understand the obsession.

haha sounds like too much time in southwest Sydney for you guys!

Yeah I was there yesterday. The 86 was surrounded by people (more people around it than the lambo lol). At one point there was a queue forming just to sit in the drivers seat lol. it was quite funny watching it all, with the keys in my pocket

asked the rep dude about waiting list and he gave me >18months. Then I just told him I have one. winning.

lol did they realise that they can walk into most Toyota dealers and do that
In colours other than Orange too

I'm happy this car is a success, but I really don't want it to be that popular!
However given the stock issues I don't think that will happen for about a year.

Haha, did you notice that they had orange spot lights shining at the car? It was really a lot more orange than it would be in normal sunlight...

Same deal for that orange corolla. Also looked like the same paint code.
