DBA T3 rotors fitted - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

I spent a bit of time today to fit up DBA's OEM replacement sized rotors to the FR-S. These are their latest 4000 series Club Spec T3's, and are a direct bolt on. It's a fairly easy job, though you'll wish for another pair of hands when bolting the calipers back on, they are heavy! As a bonus, these weigh 16.55lbs (as per the UPS scale) vs. the stock units 16.95 lbs. Less unsprung weight is nice!

Initial impression after some bedding in is that they do definitely give a better initial bite, and threshold braking was improved a bit as well. I'll be giving them a more severe thrashing in the future, especially once the turbo kit is in.

Very nice! Any plans to try the 5000 series rotors out? Very pricey, but I'm curious how much additional weight could be saved with the 2-piece rotor design.

I'm sure we will in the future, but wanted to try these out as they are a more reasonably priced "replacement" rotor, and it's a direct swap in without even needing to remove the brake pads.

Good choice. We have them on ours as well. DBA makes a quality rotor.

$800 and minimal weight savings, at least in WRX spec (thin Al hat, heavier ring to make up for it).

The 5000 series is not just about the weight saving. On our evox Race car, they are the only one with the performance friction 2 piece disc that can hold up almost a year of beating with race pad. The heat dissipation is great on those rotors, i might put them aswell since i have couple of set in stock.

Oh, no doubt about it - if you are racing frequently, the 5000 series are great. When I was at the track far, far more often in Japan with my twin turbo and then twin scroll Legacy, the 5000's held up to punishment for far, far longer than any other rotor. And that's a much heavier car. Doing the back straight at Twin Ring Motegi, going down the hill, the shedding about 100km/h for the right hander was guaranteed to stress any rotor/pad combo, and the 5000's flew through that with no issues.

Nice, those look awesome on the car. I have always run DBA rotors and have always been very impressed with them. I am curious as well if you went with an aftermarket pad or kept the stock ones.

How would this compare to the DBA t2 rotors, Is there a huge difference between them to justify the price difference
