what fails first

With these absolutely amazing numbers coming out of a stock engine running big boost, what do you all think will fail first?

I wonder if Visconti and ECUTEK can get a "Danger to Manifold" light to come on over the odometer.

the trap door in the passenger side floor board.. ?

Back on topic.. I think the valves or valve springs will be the first to go. Something in the head is my bet.

I'm going to agree with that too. The subaru turbo boxers are known for that.

the piston rings. a factory subaru rod is pretty damn strong, for them to fail is very rare.
it's always the piston rings....or the heads will lift, since the motor wasn't designed for the boost.

but what do we know, subaru may have built this thing strong as hell knowing that they failed with the sti's stock block on later models and knowing the aftermarket world was going to turbo the poop out of the car.

Yeah I agree with this. The ringlands were by far the weak point on the EJ257s. Curious to see if this will repeat itself with the FA20.

I saw a thread from Crawford on Facebook, pictures galore. Sorry at work can't link FB right now.
I think the Crank journals will fail first. Looking at the EJ20 versus the FA20 the FA block has less mass around those crank journals. This is where we will see some great detonations from boost.

Yep... gotta get a clutch to hold the power in the first place. Then you might grenade the tranny or throw rod through block
