Question about smog checks/emissions

I was reading about smog checks and it says vehicles that are under 6 years old dont need to be smog checked so does this mean once I get my FR-S I will only need to pay a 20 dollar fee every year? After the 6 year period is up I will only need to do a smog check once every 2 years right?

I plan to modify it but emissions seems to be the problem for me since I live in California. I can probably find someone to pass it for me if I pay them extra which shouldnt be hard to do.

I don't know what the $20 fee is for, but you're right, in CA cars 6 years old or older need to be smogged every 2 years. If you're modifying, just make sure any parts(air, fuel or exhaust related) you use before the Cat have a CARB EO#. It's pretty simple to do if you know the rules.. Even a tune will more than likely pass smog as long as they don't make it run too lean or too rich in the lower rpm.
