There's a bigger story to tell here too.
14 cars in class, 12 finished and they finished 3rd in class with a new un-proven car. Other important things to note is the only thing they had to do during the 24 hours is add some oil (typical). They didn't have any electrical problems, ball joint or axle failures and nothing says they even needed to change brake pads (of course they are running and Enduro compound). They "ran the car ragged" for 24 hours is a surprising thing to hear indeed. Normally when running a production trim race car in an enduro you do not run it ragged. You usually run it at 8 or 9/10th's as reliability is as important as speed. But to run it hard for all 24 sure is something special. I can't wait until this car ends up getting classed in Improved Touring in 5 years. It's going to make an excellent and reliable production-based race car. Maybe I can convince the Toyota Dealership to fund an Enduro entry for me at the 25 hours of Thunderhill.... Time to draw up a proposal! |

I'd like to hear what else they did to prep the car.

There are some entries I have found on blog.toyota.co.uk
The car has a larger radiator, fuel cell, glass windows replaced, looks like AP front/rear brakes, brake ducting. They do mention the engine is unmodified. |
