Has anyone else gotten this BS excuse?

So I got a call from my dealer after leaving a message today asking where my car was. In the middle of August he told me in 2 weeks they were going to be putting it on a boat and shipping it overseas. Today he just said they delayed it (an already made car) to ship over more Scion FRS'. He has no idea when they are going to be sending it over and will call me "soon".

Has anyone else gotten something like this?

1st world problems I know. But I am royally pissed considering I thought I was going to be driving my BRZ in a week...now its "soon" at best.

Until you know it is a boat and a confirmed expected port date, you can't really count on a delivery date. Once it is delivered at the port, then you can start estimating when you will get delivery. i know the the feeling, but the wait is worth it.

I was actually told that my FR-S was delayed in shipping as well, but then again your situation may be different than mine. It eventually came though so no worries

There have been some posts that Toyota/Subaru have delayed shipments in order to fix the issues that some folks have had with their CEL coming on for various codes. I believe it's either a new ECU or a new flash that they have been installing to resolve the issues. So you would hope that maybe they've found something.

This. You're better off waiting a little longer and having it fixed than driving it for a bit and then having it taken away.

The global demand for the car is far far higher than the supply. you are lucky you dont have a 18 month wait like the Aussies do..

Yes. At this point I may just look for an unallocated one at another dealership. I was blindsided from his call and no one was around to rant to so I had to take to the forums. Lost my composure for a few minutes and needed to realize what czar07 said at least I don't have to wait 18 months. Though at this rate I'll have enough saved to pay the car in full.

ordered mine on june 28, original delivery was september 27, and i was looking forward to it until 3 days ago, when i received an email stating that my car will be delayed to november, i'm upset too, but your case is deferent from what i understand, my car was only made on september, maybe your dealer was misinformed or he just lied to you.

i feel sorry for those who are still waiting since march, that sucks

I had a similar situation. My dealer had the right idea about it though. They told me it had an extra 10 day delay, then they called me 4 days early that it had arrived and got me all excited. Under-promise, over-deliver.

Similar here.
Got Delivery Date promised by late September, however, in August they still did not have a confirmed date in their systems, so I knew its going to be late.
Now they have week 46 in the system, so it will be mid November. Dont care that much however, as I was expecting it to be delayed (I've stopped beliving sales guys a long time ago). I'm happy as long as it arrives before year end :-) I rather have the color/equipment I want than having a rush and buy something of the lot and have to make compromises.

Btw, Car was ordered by the dealer in March.

Check the thread I posted about available BRZ's here in Colorado. I got mine for $500 over invoice from this dealer. It would probably cover the shipping cost. They have a red premium and a white limited 6spd in stock. I know heuberger motors has like 7 coming in as well. They will do $500 over invoice as well.
