when is tint too dark?

I really don't want people being able to look into my fr-s, but I also want to see through the windows at night.. where is the perfect balance for all windows?

30% is usually the darkest I would want to go for the rear. Any darker and you can't see out the back if there are no street lights or exterior lighting.

I had 20% in my WRX and I plan on getting 20% on my BRZ. Can't really look inside and can see through from the inside good enough

20 percent on my back window at night with low lighting is going to make me hit someone one day

I went with the darkest I could go legally here in Oregon. 35% They (Cops) have a hand held meter that tests the tints darkness. If it's darker than 35%, it's an instant ticket. If you prove that you have taken off the tint, the judge may dismiss the fine. But you still had to get pulled over, got to court, and pay for the tint. It's not worth it to me for just a little darker.

It's too dark when the local constabulary starts asking too many questions.

Agreed!

I have 20% on one car and had 35% on another that I just got rid of The 35% was basically the best of both worlds for aesthetics and still being drivable at night. At 20% I didn't feel comfortable driving in the city with the windows up because I was worried I'd hit a pedestrian. And it worries me in town because it makes me look like a drug dealer.

My taste in tint has slowly gotten lighter and lighter up to now where I have no tint on the BRZ. I would go 35% if I really wanted some dark tint. If/when I do end up biting the bullet it'd probably be something very light ~50% to go with the already "Tinted" UV protection that's on the stock glass.
